Why Money Matters

Incredibly engaging workshop, the children were given opportunities to think and work together. It was interesting to see how the children developed and managed their budgets too and they were given an opportunity to explain their reasoning.

Chris [ootiboo's workshop lead] started the session well, asking the children relevant questions and using his own knowledge having been a teacher and also being a parent.

Angus [ootiboo's workshop assistant] was equally amazing working behind the scenes to make the workshop run smoothly. His explanation and discussions with the children helped them to get the maximum out of the workshop and from feedback from the other teaching staff, this was a very successful day.

Children left with a much better understanding on how to manage money after attending this workshop.

This was a fantastic workshop, the leaders were really engaging and knowledgeable and the children really enjoyed every minute of it. The content was really well delivered and explored the topic of money in a really fun way. The children loved choosing their own careers and taking part in the market - both buying and selling. This was a fantastic workshop that was enjoyed by all the children who attended and the staff too. It provided an insight into how money relates to the world and how children respond in situations when they are given money, plus behaviours around trying to earn money.

All children took part and had the opportunity to be both customers and market sellers. This enabled pupils to gain an accurate insight into how buying and selling works. The idea of the 'ootibloons' as money, meant the ideas had been really well thought through to appeal to children on their level.

Children were given the opportunity to find out about more obscure job roles and then picked one that they felt most appealed to them. This also provided interesting insight into the choices and decisions of the children, as well as their interests.

We thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and very much hope you will be able to visit again to deliver this workshop to future children in the school. A thoroughly insightful experience, thank you.

The 'Why Money Matters' workshop was fantastic! Engaging, linked to real life and challenging were some of the ways the staff at St Peter's described it. The children continued to discuss how they would spend their own future money long after the workshop had finished. The workshop has helped our children to understand the importance of money and the challenges that they will face later in life in a safe and fun way. Both of the presenters were engaging and supportive of the children to help them make their own choices as to how they should spend their ootibloons on!
